Ramadan

No change after Ramadan…don’t know its importance

“So, why no change after Ramadan?

Don’t Know its Significance”

***

Sometimes, a person does not change after Ramadan although during Ramadan there was a discernible difference in h/her behaviour, attitude and pattern of worship. There may be a number of reasons why change is not entrenched or lasting within a person after Ramadan has finished such as:

[1] a person may not have actually understood the real significance of Ramadan. The Prophet said in a hadith:

لَوْ يَعْلَمُ الْعِبَادُ مَا فِي رَمَضَانَ لَتَمَنَّتْ أُمَّتِي أَنْ يَكُونَ رَمَضَانُ السَّنَةَ كُلَّهَ

“If the servants knew what was in the month of Ramadan, then my Umma would have desired the entire year to be Ramadan.”[1]

Thus:

  • It could be a person did not really understand the month he just fasted in.
  • It could be that a person did not really comprehend the implications of Ramadan if a person really does fast in it with sincerity, conviction and hope.
  • It could be a person did not really understand the immense blessing, reward, mercy and good in Ramadan over the rest of the year.
