Q & A Wudu' and Purity

Q & A: “breaking wind and ghusl…”

BREAKING WIND WHILE PERFORMING GHUSL

Q. salam bro does breaking wind invalidate the ghusl?

A.

Breaking wind during the full ritual bath (ghusl) does not invalidate it; however wudu’ is invalidated. Imam al-Quduri writes in his primer on fiqh about that which obligates ghusl:

And those aspects that necessitate ghusl are: [1] the emission of semen by way of spurting or excitement in a man and woman; [2] Contact of the two circumcised parts [even] without emission; [3] menstruation and [4] post-natal bleeding…”[1]

والمعاني الموجبة للغسل : إنزال المني على وجه الدفق والشهوة من الرجل والمرأة والتقاء الختانين من غير إنزال والحيض والنفاس

Imam al-Shurunbulali in his primer on Hanafi fiqh on the devotional 5 pillars of Islam writes:

“12 things invalidate wudu’: [1] whatever exits the two passageways except air from the rear according to the most correct opinion […].”[2]

ينقض الوضوء اثنا عشرة شيئا  ما خرج من السبيلين إلا ريح القبل في الأصح

And Allah knows best.
